Boy Scouts of America Troop 1097  Serving Gaithersburg, Germantown & N. Potomac

Our Meeting Place

This collection of photos shows off the newly renovated facilities at the Izaak Walton League Chapter House where our troop meets every week.  Since the IWLA is our sponsoring organization, our scouts are able to take advantage of many programs the IWLA offers such as youth classes for shotgun shooting (clays), archery, pellet gun team, fishing and more.

  • Log bridge over the creek.
  • The old chapter house -- before renovation.
  • The IWLA keystone marker has survived many a relocation and renovation over the years.
  • Trail entrance located behind the main building leads down a windy path, over a rope bridge to the stocked lake where we hold ceremonies such as flag retirements, Eagle ceremonies, etc.
  • Brand new archery range.
  • This is Troops 1097's equipment shed.
  • Front view. Some work remains to be completed.
  • Main entrance on Waring Station Road.
  • What a great new space to meet, overlooking the trees and archery range.
  • The back deck and extension is all new -- part of the renovation. Gives us even more options for meeting space depending on the weather.
  • The front porch is new, as is the back porch. Previously, only the main part of the house existed and the landscaping was rough.
