Plan:

Sun. 7/26/20

6:00 PM:  Cumberland Visitor Center - C&O Canal National Historical Park Western Maryland Railroad Station 13 Canal St, Cumberland, MD 21502, where we start our ride.  This is a drop-off trip.

Sun.: Bike about 10 miles to Iron Mountain Hiker/Biker campsite

Mon.: Bike about 25 miles to Devil's Alley Hiker/Biker campsite

Tue.: Bike about 35 miles to North Mountain Hiker/Biker campsite

Wed.: Bike about 50 miles to Huckleberry Hill Hiker/Biker campsite 

Wed. PM: Call pickup rides with exact location for pickup.

Thu. AM: Bike 1 mile to pickup point at Harper's Ferry Road

Before you leave:

  • Know how to fix a flat tire.
  • Inspect your tires - replace if frayed or worn.
  • Inspect your brake and shift cables - also replace if frayed.
  • Ensure that your rack attachments are tight.
  • Test ride your bike - Do not make a bunch of changes the night before. Get your bike ready NOW and try to ride it at least a few times before you start your trip.

- Bike (make sure it's ready for days-long riding)
- Helmet
- Day Pack w/padded straps
- Water Bottle
- Rain Jacket

  • Eye Wear (Sunglasses)

  • ID, Credit, Cash
  • Flashlight (for Paw Paw Tunnel)
  • Matches or Lighter

For overnight camping: 
  • Tent / Hammock

  • Sleeping Bag
  • Sleeping Pad

We are in need of towable child carriers, if anyone has one to carry our gear (not scouts) that would be great.
